(Paid link)In Miyakojima, it is worth choosing a hotel where the hours after a day by the sea are something to look forward to. At ALLAMANDA Splendid, you can choose a room with views toward the horizon and a stone bathtub looking outdoors. Book a private pool suite, and a swim leads back to your own terrace or living room. An afternoon at the hotel deserves a place in the itinerary alongside a day at the beach.
Opened on April 29, 2026, the hotel stands on a hill within Shigira Seven Miles Resort on Miyakojima’s southern coast. Its seven-story main building and detached villas contain 100 guest rooms in total. At the hotel’s restaurant, With Blue, Miyako soba becomes mie goreng, while fish from Okinawan waters is prepared as ceviche. Breakfast choices extend from plated meals in the hotel to seafood congee and an Italian-style course menu elsewhere in the resort. Sea views in your room and island ingredients in different dishes give a longer stay something to look forward to, from your room to the table.
Ocean Views and a Stone Bath to Come Back To
For a stay centered on sea views, start with the Executive Ocean room. Its 59 m² interior includes a bedroom and living area, with an 8 m² terrace and views across Miyakojima’s sea to the horizon. The bathroom has a stone bathtub with a view outdoors, so you can enjoy the scenery while bathing after a day at the beach or pool. Before dinner, you can stop for a drink at the Executive Lounge in a separate adjoining building. Together, the views, bath and lounge make the hours between returning to the hotel and going to dinner part of the stay’s appeal. Occupancy is 1–3 guests.
(Paid link)The comparison with a Deluxe room helps explain that choice. Deluxe rooms have 56–58 m² indoors and a 12–17 m² terrace, with occupancy of 1–3 guests. The interior is close in size to the Ocean room, while the terrace is larger. The Ocean room’s horizon views, bath with a view and lounge access become particularly relevant if you plan to spend more time at the hotel. Expedia lists the same bed configuration for both: two double beds and one single sofa bed. With similar floor areas and bed arrangements, the distinction lies in the outlook and included facilities.
For morning scenery, consider the Executive Sunrise room. It faces east toward the Muiga cliffs and the sunrise, with 65 m² indoors and a 14 m² terrace. That orientation and extra space lend themselves to time on the terrace before breakfast. Like the Ocean room, it includes lounge access and accommodates 1–3 guests.
If beaches, golf and the resort’s restaurants will shape your days, the Superior room is also worth considering. It has 47 m² indoors, an 11–12 m² terrace, a bedroom, living area, bathroom and powder room. Occupancy is two guests, and Expedia lists the outlook as a park view. It provides a base for days by the sea, with a living area to return to afterward.
Room areas here refer to indoor space; terrace areas are listed separately.
An Afternoon for the Garden Pool and Sauna
Private pools are offered in two Garden Pool Suites, three Premier Pool Suites and two detached Pool Villa Suites. Each has more than 100 m² indoors, with a pool and outdoor living area on the terrace. Swim, return to the living room, then take a book outside. These are suites in which spending time in your room can become a plan for the day.
The Garden Pool Suite centers on a 7.6 m × 4 m pool facing the garden, with a daybed beside it. One guest can swim while another rests on the terrace, each enjoying their own time within the same suite. With a sauna in the suite as well, you might keep an afternoon free to stay in and enjoy the pool and sauna.
(Paid link)This one-bedroom suite has 106–107 m² indoors and an 82 m² terrace, along with a living and dining area and pantry. Occupancy is 1–4 guests. The indoor space is about 1.8 times that of an Executive Ocean room, with the garden and pool beyond. Expedia lists a park view. The terrace facing greenery and the private pool make it a room to choose when time in the suite is central to the trip.
Sea-and-Sky Penthouses and Two Detached Villas
In the Premier Pool Suite (2 Bedroom), the sea and sky visible from the living room take center stage. There are three of these penthouses on the seventh floor, each with 107–124 m² indoors and a 162–195 m² terrace. There is also an outdoor living area, and the 11 m × 5.5 m pool is the largest pool among the three suite categories. If you want both sea views and a private pool as part of your room, this penthouse is a strong place to start.
Two bedrooms, an indoor living and dining area, and an outdoor living area also make the layout appealing for family or friends sharing a suite. There are places to gather and separate places to rest, allowing time together and time on your own. Occupancy is 1–5 guests.
For a stay away from the main building, there are two detached Pool Villa Suites. Each has 108 m² indoors and a 185 m² terrace, with an 8.2 m × 4 m pool, sauna, jetted bath and daybed. If the Garden Pool Suite appeals but you also want two bedrooms and a detached building, the villa is another option. A swim, time on the daybed, a sauna and a soak in the jetted bath can all take place within your own villa, without heading to shared facilities.
The villa accommodates 1–5 guests, with one of its two bedrooms in a loft-style arrangement. Its bathroom also offers a view outdoors, while Expedia describes the room’s outlook as a partial ocean view. Compare the Premier’s top-floor sea-and-sky outlook with the villa’s detached setting and layout: these two-bedroom pool suites offer different ways to spend time at the hotel.
(Paid link)All three suite categories have pools 1.2 m deep, heated from November through March. Executive Lounge access, a pantry and a front-loading washer-dryer are also common to all three. On a longer stay with days at the beach, you can wash and dry your laundry in the suite.
Out to the Pools Overlooking Shigira Beach
(Paid link)For a day at a pool by the sea, head into the wider resort. ALLAMANDA Splendid guests can use Shigira Garden Pool and Shigira Beachside Pool as well as the hotel’s guest pool. The Garden Pool complex has three pools of different sizes. The Beachside Pool complex includes a main pool looking out to sea and a seaside pool beside the beach.
These seaside facilities are also available to guests in Superior and Deluxe rooms. A living area and terrace back at the hotel, paired with a sea-facing pool to visit during the day, offer another way to enjoy the resort’s waterside setting.
For a place of your own beside the Beachside Pool, private cabanas with a Jacuzzi are available for an additional charge. Full-day use runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and afternoon use from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., including a welcome drink, towels and a locker. You can spend the day between the beach and pool, returning to your cabana to rest. Back at the hotel, there is also a unisex dry sauna where swimwear is required, along with a fitness center.
A Lounge Drink, Then Miyako Soba Mie Goreng for Dinner
For time outside your room before dinner, the Executive Lounge occupies a separate building adjoining the hotel. It is available to guests in Executive Ocean and Executive Sunrise rooms and all three pool suite categories, with drinks and appetizers provided. Cocktail time runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with last orders at 7:30 p.m. Dinner at With Blue begins at 6 p.m., making a visit to the lounge a possible prelude to the meal.
(Paid link)Lounge tea time, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is open to guests aged six and over; cocktail time is for those aged 18 and over. When choosing a room, consider which lounge hours everyone in your party can enjoy.
One dish to seek out at With Blue is its Miyako soba prepared as mie goreng, with beef, shrimp and a fried egg. It captures the restaurant’s approach to Okinawan ingredients through dishes from different culinary traditions. Fish from Okinawan waters and scallops become ceviche; Okinawan tuna and avocado appear in Korean-style poke. Lightly smoked tuna is also paired with spaghettini in lemon cream sauce, giving the same ingredient another expression.
You might begin with seafood ceviche and follow it with the Miyako soba mie goreng, or choose beet salad with island tofu and ponzu espuma before the tuna pasta. The à la carte menu lets you combine dishes using Miyako soba, Okinawan fish and island tofu according to your appetite. The appeal is in making Okinawan ingredients the focus of dinner while exploring more than one culinary tradition.
For a meal centered on meat, Agu pork and Kumejima Akadori chicken are cooked in French-made STAUB cookware. Sauce options include mustard cream, chimichurri and balsamic; grilled Okinawan Japanese Black wagyu and fish from nearby waters are also on the menu. Choosing different ingredients for starters and mains gives you scope to return to the restaurant for another kind of dinner during a longer stay.
White tones and natural materials define the dining room, which looks across the pool toward greenery and the sea. Alongside the main dining area are a chef’s counter, terrace seating and private rooms. With around 40 restaurants across the resort, evenings out can alternate with dinners built around With Blue’s own dishes. These are menu examples; dishes change with the season and ingredient availability.
(Paid link)Seafood Congee One Morning, an Italian Course Menu the Next
The hotel’s Select Breakfast program offers another reason to consider staying several nights, with a choice of four venues. There is breakfast overlooking the sea at With Blue, or a visit to another resort restaurant for a particular dish. Changing the venue changes the way the day begins as well as what is on the plate.
With Blue serves a prix fixe breakfast: a first plate using ingredients from Miyakojima and Okinawa’s main island, followed by a choice of main. There are pancakes with homemade Yukishio salt whipped butter, Agu pork bacon and sausage; a fish plate with fish landed around Miyakojima and fresh tomato sauce; or a meat plate with homemade Agu pork meatballs. Eggs can be scrambled, fried or served as eggs Benedict. Even on mornings spent at the hotel, choosing a different main gives you a reason to return.
(Paid link)On another morning, try seafood congee and dim sum at Kohakuro. The breakfast set centers on congee with shrimp and scallops, accompanied by condiments to add to taste. Three varieties of steamed dim sum made by a Hong Kong dim sum chef, dishes featuring Okinawan diamond squid (seika) and whelks, and almond pudding with Yukishio salt are also served. With dim sum, seafood and dessert alongside the congee, the meal itself can be a reason to visit. Advance reservations are required, so decide ahead of time which morning to set aside for it.
For a morning devoted to breakfast, consider the Western-style course menu at Ristorante DEA. Amuse-bouches, an appetizer, soup and bread lead to a choice of main: crespelle made with buckwheat batter, a soft-cooked egg, white sauce and island vegetables, or cartoccio, a parcel of seasonal fish from waters around Miyakojima. Pudding à la mode follows for dessert. A meal running from appetizer through dessert invites a morning without a hurried departure. The restaurant welcomes guests aged 12 and over.
Maralunga Waryu-Sosaku offers a buffet for mornings when you want to combine Japanese, Western and Ryukyuan dishes as you please. A fish plate at the hotel one morning, seafood congee the next, and an Italian-style course menu on a day with fewer plans: breakfast can become a way to explore the resort over several nights.
Menus vary with the season and ingredient availability. Choose your accommodation plan with its breakfast terms in mind, including whether breakfast is included and which venues are covered.
Coral Reefs and Sea Views from All 18 Holes
Set aside a day to venture into the sea you have been admiring from the terrace. The resort’s official activity site lists an early-morning private snorkeling tour by Ocean King Miyakojima, with English assistance available. Offered from March through November for one private group per day, it lasts around two hours. Your group enters the water with a guide to explore coral reefs and look for sea turtles. Turtle sightings depend on the conditions that day, but the tour adds an underwater perspective to the sea views from your room.
For an underwater view without swimming, the semi-submersible sightseeing boat SeaSky Hakuai departs from Hakuai Fishing Port. The trip takes around 40 minutes, with underwater viewing from inside the boat. It offers a way to share the marine scenery with traveling companions who do not plan to snorkel.
At Shigira Beach, options include snorkeling for around 1½ hours, kayaking for around an hour, and a combined outing lasting roughly 2½ hours. Stand-up paddleboarding is also offered in the resort’s beach area. These activities require every participant to be able to communicate in Japanese. Depending on which you can join, you can paddle across the surface or explore the coral and fish below it.
For a day with sea views from land, visit Shigira Bay Country Club. All 18 holes look out to sea; the 11th plays downhill toward the water, while the second shot on the 12th crosses a pond. A nine-hole round is available alongside the full 18, except during the year-end and New Year holiday period. That leaves room for a day centered on golf or one shared between the course and the hotel. Clubs and shoes can be rented with advance reservations.
(Paid link)At night, the same course hosts a guided stargazing tour of around an hour, using binoculars and telescopes. Japanese communication is also required for this tour, and start times vary by season. All the activities described here cost extra. Sea trips may be canceled because of sea conditions, and stargazing because of the weather.
Getting Around the Resort and Arriving from the Airports
Breakfast venues, pools and golf spread your plans across the resort. A circulating shuttle bus and rental carts connect its facilities, with shuttle schedules varying by season and operating conditions. When planning meals away from the hotel, consider how you will get there.
A valid driver’s license is required to drive a cart. According to the hotel’s facilities guide, guests on floors 1 and 7 of the main building can use carts free of charge on an hourly basis; guests on other floors pay a rental charge. The official room descriptions for all three pool suite categories also list complimentary cart rental during the stay. Rentals are subject to availability while you are at the hotel.
Miyako Airport is around 15 minutes from the resort by car. The free shared shuttle has an airport reception desk operating from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No reservation is needed for the trip from the airport; the return service from the hotel requires a reservation.
The free direct shuttle from Miyako Shimojishima Airport will be suspended after October 31, 2026. From November 1, the announced route is to take the paid Miyako Shimojishima Airport Liner to Miyako Airport, then transfer to the resort’s free shuttle.
The hotel is at 975-6 Ueno Miyaguni, Miyakojima. It is a separate property from Shigira Bayside Suite Allamanda and Allamanda Imgya Coral Village, both within the same resort.
Days at Sea and Afternoons at the Hotel
Leave room in a trip to Miyakojima for afternoons at the hotel. Bathe in a room that looks toward the horizon, or spend time by a garden pool and in your own sauna. Order the Miyako soba mie goreng at With Blue for dinner, then head out the next morning for seafood congee or an Italian-style course menu. Imagine a stay at ALLAMANDA Splendid with time to enjoy each of these moments at an unhurried pace.
