Yokohama’s waterfront reveals a different mood from one neighbourhood to the next. Around Minato Mirai, glass towers, convention halls and new cultural venues face the harbour. Farther east, Yamashita Park and a landmark hotel from 1927 preserve the atmosphere of the older port city.
The six hotels below are not interchangeable. One is exceptionally convenient for Pacifico Yokohama, another centres the stay on wellness, and another places you directly on Shinko Pier. This guide compares their locations, room character and strongest reasons to stay, with hotel-specific Expedia links for checking current availability.

Hotels for Medical Congresses and Conferences at Pacifico Yokohama
If you are visiting Yokohama for a medical congress or international conference, check the building named in your programme before choosing a hotel. Pacifico Yokohama includes several venues, and the route to the Conference Center differs from the route to Pacifico Yokohama North.
InterContinental Yokohama Grand stands within the Pacifico Yokohama complex, next to the Conference Center and National Convention Hall. Its location is particularly useful when your sessions take place in those buildings and you want an easy return to your room between scheduled events.
From Minato Mirai Station, use the Queen’s Square connecting exit and the second-floor passage for the Conference Center, National Convention Hall and Exhibition Hall. For North, use Exit 2 (Ichodori Exit) and head toward Keiyu Hospital. Check the official Pacifico Yokohama access guide alongside your organiser’s registration and session locations.
InterContinental Yokohama Grand: A Sail Above Pacifico Yokohama

The curved, sail-like tower has defined this part of Yokohama’s skyline since 1991. After an event at Pacifico Yokohama, the walk back is measured in minutes rather than train stops, and the harbour remains part of the evening from many public spaces and room categories.
The hotel has 594 rooms and suites. Classic Rooms measure 31 square metres, while Premium Rooms measure 38 square metres. Guests choose between City View and Harbor View categories: the former looks across the illuminated Minato Mirai skyline, while the latter faces Yokohama Port and the Bay Bridge. The hotel stands within the Pacifico Yokohama complex, about five minutes on foot from Minato Mirai Station.
Choose it for the most convenient connection to conferences and large events, or for a recognisable Yokohama landmark with a clear choice of city or harbour scenery. The outlook depends on the booked category, so it should not be assumed that every room faces the water.
The Westin Yokohama: Wellness in Central Minato Mirai

A morning here can begin in the indoor pool or Heavenly Spa, followed by breakfast and a walk through Minato Mirai. Wellness is not an extra theme added to the hotel; it shapes the beds, fitness facilities, spa and dining choices throughout the stay.
The 373 rooms and suites range from 42 to 210 square metres and use floor-to-ceiling windows to bring the city into the room. Some categories look toward Yokohama Bay or Mount Fuji, but those views are not shared by every room. The hotel also houses the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio and Heavenly Spa by Westin.
This is the strongest choice here for travellers who want the spa, pool and fitness routine to be part of the stay itself. If the view matters as much as the wellness facilities, confirm the exact room category before booking.
Hilton Yokohama: Contemporary Design Beside K-Arena

Opened in 2023 beside K-Arena Yokohama, the hotel brings a polished, contemporary rhythm to the northern edge of the waterfront. Large windows and Art Deco-inspired details give the rooms a strong visual identity without trying to imitate the older port city.
Hilton Yokohama has 339 rooms in Minato Mirai, about five minutes on foot from Shin-Takashima Station. Guests in suites and executive rooms can use the Executive Lounge, which offers dedicated service during breakfast and cocktail hours.
It works particularly well around a concert at K-Arena or for travellers who prefer a recently opened hotel near the waterfront. Executive Lounge access is tied to eligible room categories and should not be assumed for a standard booking.
InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8: A Stay on Shinko Pier

Here, the passenger terminal and hotel share Shinko Pier. Ships, water and the changing lights of Minato Mirai feel close to the building, giving the stay a quieter maritime character than hotels deeper inside the business district.
The 173 rooms and suites start with 46-square-metre Classic Rooms. Junior Suites measure 60–73 square metres, Corner Suites 81 square metres and Signature Suites 133 square metres. The hotel is connected to Yokohama Hammerhead and the Shinko Pier Passenger Terminal, about ten minutes on foot from Bashamichi Station or twelve minutes from Minato Mirai Station.
Choose Pier 8 when the setting itself matters more than the shortest station walk. Room names distinguish Minatomirai View and Yokohama Harbour View, so the precise direction should be checked when selecting a category.
The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama: A Resort-Like City Stay

The water garden, heated pool and upper-floor lounge allow an evening to unfold largely inside the hotel. The mood is more self-contained than at the other Minato Mirai choices, making dinner, spa time and the room part of one continuous stay.
The 146 rooms follow a Crystal Modern design concept. Standard Kahala Grand and Upper Floor rooms measure 47.44–50.18 square metres, while separate Harbor View and suite categories offer different outlooks and layouts. The hotel includes a spa, indoor pool and gym, and is about eight minutes on foot from both Minato Mirai and Shin-Takashima stations.
Choose it for resort-style facilities without leaving central Yokohama. For room-by-room details, dining, the water garden and spa conditions, read our full review of The Kahala Hotel & Resort Yokohama. Harbor views belong to specific categories rather than every room.
Hotel New Grand: Yokohama’s 1927 Landmark

The grand staircase and the view toward Yamashita Park belong to an older Yokohama. Opened in 1927, the Main Building gives this guide its one stay where the architecture and the city’s modern history are inseparable.
The hotel has 230 rooms across the Main Building and Tower. Main Building Grand Double and Grand Twin rooms measure 27 square metres, while many Tower room categories measure 32–34 square metres. The Main Building is recognised as a Yokohama City historic building and as Heritage of Industrial Modernisation. Motomachi-Chukagai Station is about one minute away on foot.
Hotel New Grand is outside Minato Mirai, facing Yamashita Park. Choose it for classic architecture and a closer relationship with the older port, Chinatown and Motomachi rather than for the newest waterfront development.
Choosing a Yokohama Hotel for Your Cruise Terminal
Yokohama has three cruise terminals: Osanbashi, Shinko Pier and Daikoku Pier. Confirm the terminal with your cruise line before booking a hotel or arranging your transfer; a waterfront address alone does not tell you how convenient the journey will be.
Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal: the terminal is about seven minutes on foot from Nihon-odori Station, using Exit 3 or 4. From the Minato Mirai area, take the Minatomirai Line to Nihon-odori and continue on foot, or arrange a taxi from your hotel if you have large suitcases. The official Osanbashi visitor guide provides a terminal map and access information.
Shinko Pier Passenger Terminal (Yokohama Hammerhead): InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 is directly connected to this terminal, making it a particularly convenient choice when your ship uses Shinko Pier. The terminal is about ten minutes on foot from Bashamichi Station Exit 4 or twelve minutes from Minato Mirai Station Exit 6.
Daikoku Pier Cruise Terminal: plan a taxi or a transfer offered by your cruise line from your hotel. Public buses also serve the area, but Yokohama City warns that they can be very crowded on cruise-call days. Confirm your boarding location and any transfer arrangements with the cruise line before departure.
Which Yokohama Luxury Hotel Should You Choose?
For Pacifico Yokohama, InterContinental Yokohama Grand has the clearest location advantage. The Westin is the wellness-led choice, while Hilton Yokohama suits a concert-focused or contemporary stay. Pier 8 places the harbour closest to the experience, and The Kahala is the option for travellers who want more of the itinerary to remain inside the hotel.
Hotel New Grand belongs to a different part of Yokohama: choose it for Yamashita Park, historic architecture and access to Motomachi and Chinatown. Whichever hotel fits the trip, confirm the exact room category when a particular view, lounge access or flexible booking condition matters.
