A train arrives at Hakata Station, luggage crosses the concourse, and East Exit 7 leads directly into Miyako Hotel Hakata. Later, a dedicated lift carries hotel guests from the bedroom floors to the top of the building, where an onsen pool sits beside an eight-metre waterfall and aircraft move through the Fukuoka sky.
This short vertical journey gives the hotel its character. The city and the railway stay at the door. On the thirteenth floor are a natural hot-spring bath, an outdoor onsen pool and dinner above the lights of Hakata.

From Hakata Station to the Third-Floor Lobby
The hotel’s basement entrance connects directly to the subway passage at East Exit 7. From the Shinkansen or JR concourse on the Chikushi side of Hakata Station, the walk is about one minute. Fukuoka Airport is two subway stops away, placing the beginning and end of a Kyushu journey within an unusually compact radius.
The lobby waits on the third floor, where tall windows and planting draw daylight into TTT Cafe. The cafe’s greenery echoes the planted exterior of the building, softening the transition from one of western Japan’s busiest stations.
Rooms Framed by Full-Height Windows
Miyako Hotel Hakata has 208 rooms, beginning with Superior rooms of 30 to 31 square metres. Deluxe rooms measure 34 to 36 square metres and Luxury rooms 42 to 43 square metres. Except for the Universal Room, bathrooms have a separate washing area and toilet; the beds were developed with Sealy for the hotel.
Superior rooms also open to full-height windows. In the Deluxe Double, a carpet patterned after the traditional kenjo motif of Hakata-ori and cups decorated with the markings of Koishiwara ware bring two Fukuoka crafts quietly into the room.

For most one- or two-night stays, Superior and Deluxe preserve the hotel’s central advantages: a generous Japanese city-hotel room, a proper bathroom and direct access to the rooftop spa. Luxury is the more meaningful step up when two-sided light, storage and double basins will be used. The Terrace should be selected for the outdoor space itself rather than from the name alone, because the six plans are not interchangeable.
Regular room windows do not open. Only The Terrace categories have sliding doors leading outside, so guests who value fresh air should make that distinction explicit when booking. Room floors and outlooks can vary within the regular categories and should not be treated as guaranteed unless the selected rate says so.

Six Terraces Beside the Falling Water
Six rooms named The Terrace sit beside the water descending the outside of the hotel. Each occupies a different position between the ninth and twelfth floors, so its plan and terrace change with the height: the regular rooms range from 38 square metres with an 11-square-metre terrace to 50 square metres with an eight-square-metre terrace. Two suites add larger interiors, including a 97-square-metre room on the eleventh floor.
The six rooms sit along the cascade on the building’s exterior, keeping falling water close to their terraces.
Up in a Robe to SPA lucida
A dedicated spa lift runs from the guest-room floors to SPA lucida, and hooded robes are provided in the rooms for the journey. The outdoor area is used in swimwear. Its three-by-sixteen-metre pool is filled with water from the hotel’s hot-spring source; a jet bath, a smaller pool, loungers and a warming room sit around it. Above them, water falls eight metres through the open-air space.
Behind glass, the indoor bath also uses natural hot-spring water and looks towards Fukuoka Airport. The men’s side has a dry sauna and cold bath, while the women’s side has a steam sauna. Both the outdoor spa and indoor bath are complimentary for overnight guests.
The outdoor spa currently opens from 6:30 a.m. to noon and again from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.; after 7 p.m. it is reserved for guests aged 18 and over. The main pool requires a height of at least 120 centimetres, and children under 12 need an accompanying adult. Tattoos are generally prohibited, although a fashion tattoo that can be fully covered by one paid cover sticker may be accepted. Current conditions should be checked again for the stay dates.
Dinner at the Height of the Pool
Le Ciel Bleu shares the thirteenth floor with the spa. The restaurant uses ingredients from across Kyushu in its courses and à la carte dishes, served in a glass-lined room overlooking Hakata and the flight path beyond it. Breakfast is also served here, bringing the next morning back to the same sky that framed the evening pool.
Downstairs, TTT Cafe receives softer daylight through the third-floor windows and serves drinks, light meals and afternoon tea. Room service provides another way to keep the evening within the room.
The current breakfast is a buffet with both Western and Japanese dishes, including flavours associated with Fukuoka. Breakfast inclusion depends on the selected rate. TTT Cafe is a public cafe lounge rather than an executive club lounge, and the official room collection does not attach private lounge access to Luxury or The Terrace categories.

Morning Returns to the Station
The spa reopens at 6:30 a.m. and breakfast at Le Ciel Bleu begins at 7 a.m. Afterwards, the lift descends to the same station passage used on arrival. The Shinkansen, JR lines and airport subway are already beneath the hotel, so the final walk with luggage remains measured in minutes.
At dusk, the waterfall catches the light above Hakata Station. Trains continue below, aircraft cross the sky, and the outdoor pool holds the warm water of the hotel’s own spring.
